Overview

Itinerary

Today, we’re off to explore the treasures of southern Armenia. And our first stop is the iconic Khor Virap Monastery. According to legend, Saint Gregory was imprisoned in a deep pit (khor virap in Armenian) at this site for 13 years by King Tiridates III due to his Christian beliefs. When he was finally set free, and King Tiridates himself embraced Christianity, it became a significant moment in Armenia’s religious history.
Keep your camera ready to capture the highlight – an exceptional view of the Biblical Mount Ararat.

Leaving the Ararat Valley behind, we’ll head to Vayots Dzor province. A must-see is Areni, a renowned wine village where history comes to life in the archaeological cave Areni 1. It’s here that the archeologists discovered the world’s oldest leather shoe (5500 years old) and the oldest winery (6100 years old). This region is also home to the world famous, unique, endemic grape variety Areni.

During this trip  we’ll  also visit the remarkable Noravank Monastery nestled in a charming canyon. Noravank is renowned for its dramatic red cliffs that surround the church complex. It’s no news that photographers and nature enthusiasts are drawn to this unique geological wonder.

At your request, we can organize a wine tasting and a delightful lunch at a local winery.
