During this tour you’re going to learn a lot about Christianity in Armenia. But likewise our pagan
ancestors Christian Armenians also considered wine as the most important ceremonial drink.
The region is called Armavir and it’s situated in Ararat valley. So you will notice a lot of similar
characteristics with the other parts of the valley. You might also ask us why “Armenian Vatican”.
We will be in and around Echmiadzin Cathedral which is the heart of the Armenian Apostolic
Church. Here besides the Cathedral we also have the Residence of Armenian Catholicos,
Seminary, other churches, museums, library, bookshops and other things led by the Armenian
Church. Founded in 301 Echmiadzin is considered to be the oldest Cathedral in the world.
Our morning will start with Echmiadzin Cathedral. What a holy start to our wine trip! You will see
the Gates of king Trdates, The Holy See, Residence of Armenian Catholicos and a few other
buildings. A lot of interesting things you will learn from our guide.
Later we will visit The Ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral (UNESCO). We will see here the
remains of the 7th century cathedral, wine cellars, old karases (the klay anforas) and the
museum. We will learn a lot here because there are remains of different historical periods at the
site.
Get ready for  lunch in the atmosphere of art and crafts!
The last stop for today is one of our favorite wineries. Honestly you won’t even be able to
visit any other sites after this winery. A lot of wine, unique atmosphere, and crazy emotions.
Warning! Don’t plan much for the evening after this trip!
